FinSteam
Installation Requirements

"Man who cuts corners on sauna safety may one day bend the wrong way and deservedly burn his own arse.".

FinSteam gas sauna heaters have specific installation requirements that must be followed.

Different heaters have different requirements, but none of them are designed to be installed using guesswork, wishful thinking and a strong belief that everything will somehow work out.

FINSTEAM - SAFETY FIRST Installation Surface and Safety Distances Safety first should be the starting point of every sauna, whether it is heated by electricity, wood or gas.

One of the first and most important considerations when installing a FinSteam heater is properly implemented, compliant natural ventilation.
Correct placement and adequate safety clearances are essential for the safe installation of a FinSteam heater.

Place the heater on a level, stable and load-bearing surface.
When installing the heater on a wooden floor or another combustible surface, use a suitable non-combustible protective base.
Maintain a minimum clearance of 200 mm between the heater and combustible materials on all sides. This clearance may be reduced to 50 mm by using a suitable fire-protection board or a correctly installed FinSteam NJORD Heat Shield, in accordance with the FinSteam Installation and Safety Guide.
Maintain at least 1000 mm of unobstructed clearance above the heater.
Always maintain these minimum clearances and follow the current FinSteam Installation and Safety Guide and applicable local requirements.
Provide an adjustable fresh-air inlet with at least 350 cm² of unobstructed free opening area.

Provide an adjustable exhaust-air outlet with at least 250 cm² of unobstructed free opening area.

Combustion air must be drawn directly from outdoors, and exhaust air must be discharged directly outdoors.
Keep both ventilation openings unobstructed whenever the heater is in use.
Use the heater only in a sauna equipped with suitable natural ventilation.

GAS INSTALLATIONS

All gas installations must comply with national and local regulations applicable in the country of use.

GAS CYLINDER

Place the gas cylinder outside the sauna room or sauna tent, away from all heat sources. Never place the gas cylinder inside the sauna or near the heater, fireplace, open flame, or any other heat source.

GAS REGULATOR

Use a gas hose with an 8–10 mm internal diameter and a maximum length of 1200–1500 mm, securely fixed with hose clamps at both ends.

Keep the gas hose free from kinks, tension, and mechanical stress, and fully visible and accessible for inspection.

GAS HOSE

Use only certified low-pressure gas regulators and ensure that the regulator pressure matches the heater appliance category.

Do not use LPG cylinders larger than 25 kg.

Always close the gas cylinder valve and pressure regulator valve when the heater is not in use.

A gas cylinder may supply only one appliance, and the pressure regulator must be connected directly to the gas cylinder valve.

Appliance gas pressure versions: I3B/P: 30 mbar (butane, propane, or their mixtures) and I3P: 37 mbar (propane).

Safe Installation Makes Better Sauna.

Professional installation and compliance with the FinSteam Installation and Safety Guide are essential for safe heater operation.

Use only certified LPG hoses, fittings, and connections. FinSteam recommends using a stainless steel braided gas hose for maximum durability and heat resistance.

Who Is FinSteam For? To put it in the most clichéd way – everyone.

But especially for those who have been told that an electric or wood-burning sauna heater simply is not an option. And for those who believe a great sauna should not be tied to a power supply, a chimney – or even one permanent location.

FinSteam gives you the freedom to rethink where a sauna belongs. In your backyard, by the beach, at the edge of a forest, on a mountainside, on a rooftop terrace or travelling with you in a caravan or mobile sauna.
